In “Babel”, an American woman on vacation with her husband is shot by a Moroccan teenage boy using a gun previously owned by a Japanese businessman with a deaf and sexually frustrated daughter, leaving the American’s Mexican nanny with no choice but to take their kids to Mexico for the day so she can attend her son’s wedding. While the stories of all of these people are all connected, there isn’t really a point to telling any of them. Each on its own could have been developed nicely, but together it’s a mish mash of confusion, which I suppose might be the point, given the title. But if the point is to just make a pointless, confusing mess then why even bother? Recommendation: skip this one altogether.
