Neighborhood Stamping Safari
Wednesday, September 2, 2026
5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
East Rochester Public Library
317 Main St, East Rochester, NY, United States, 14445
free
Join me for a family-friendly adventure before the village concert! We’ll use modeling clay and ink pads to capture interesting textures – like tree bark, pavement, lettering on signs, and more – and stamp the impressions into notebooks to create our very own texture safari journals. This is a unique way to slow down and explore the neighborhood around the library. Please note that this is a slightly messy hands-on activity so be prepared – you might have inky fingers! Registration required so we can be sure to have enough supplies. Library registration link coming or you can email me at joannebrokaw@gmail. com to save your space; be sure to put “Stamp Safari” in the subject line.

Monday, September 14, 2026 (recurring 2nd Monday of each month)
5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
East Rochester Public Library
317 Main St, East Rochester, NY, United States, 14445

Join me for an hour of prompts designed to spur personal reflection and creative inspiration. Materials will be provided, but if you have your own journals or writing utensils feel free to bring those. This is a low pressure activity for anyone who needs a creative boost. Sharing is optional. No registration required. Meet at 5:30 pm on the second floor of the library, at the tables near the windows. Don’t want to write? You can also just pop in to the library for cozy hour to unplug, relax, and connect in the quietest place in the Village. Enjoy reading, puzzles, board games, creative activities, explore the library resources, meet friends to sit and knit, or just spend time “alone” with others.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Art Apothecary – September date TBA; at my studio in Piano Works, East Rochester, NY
Consider this a dedicated time for you to pause from the daily grind as you craft and create in a supportive, small group setting. Each session will have an activity, there will be gentle guidance from me if you need it, and yes, there will be snacks. (I need snacks when I make art so I assume everyone else does too.) If this is something that piques your interest, click here to get more info and let me know what days/times work best.

Squashbook Memory Keeper – coming in October; East Rochester Library

Quirky Bird Cardboard Collage – coming in the fall; East Rochester Library

Improv play for adults – sessions now forming; dates TBD; at my studio
I’ve had several requests for adult improv play and also for a mixed class for tweens/teens and their adults. If you’re interested in either of those, drop me an email and put “Improv” in the subject line to get on the wait list, and also let me know what days/times work best for you. These would be 4 to 6 week sessions with a focus on using play to have fun and explore improv basics in a safe, supportive, mistakes-encouraged environment.

Coming to my studio for a workshop or event?

My physical studio is located inside
Central Creatives Co-Work of Art
Piano Works, East Rochester, NY
Directions:
Central Creatives is located at 349 West Commercial Street, in the Piano Works Mall, East Rochester, NY, 14445, right off 490. Park at the end of the plaza near Ferrari Pizza and enter through the RED single door between Weaving Arts Guild and Penn Fair Golf, right next to the antiques shop. Follow the hallway and take the elevator or stairs to the second floor. When you get there, text/call me at the number posted on the door and someone will let you in.
