Their responses are then put together to form a collaborative ... poem. word collage. creative prose. we never know until it's finished.... which is then posted at: https://notesfromthefunnyfarm.wordpress.com/exquisite-collaboration-project-main/ This process is meant to remind us that if we all just contribute our part to a creative project, the end result will be something exquisitely beautiful - even if (especially if) it's nothing we would have thought to create on our own. You'll find a variety of creative tools or prompts available if you'd like to doodle or write. There will be space available if you'd like to read your work, or play some acoustic music, or announce an upcoming event. This is an informal time to hang out, connect, and recharge your creative batteries. There is no charge; rsvp always welcome but not necessary. You can find more info here. On a personal note: when Misty and I talked about hosting this event, I didn't realize the day we ended up picking was two years, almost to the day, that I held my first creative gathering at my new studio space in Central Creatives. That morning in May 2021, a handful of creative friends navigated the East Rochester Memorial Day Parade to join me to celebrate the big (scary!) step I'd taken to rent studio space. We walked around and talked about all of the things we could do in this gorgeous space. Since then, we've painted and played and improvised and laughed and cried and made stuff and talked about making stuff and made lots of friends in that space. It's fitting that this event is being co-hosted by Misty Yarnall, an author and teaching artist I met through the Teaching Artist Institute of Rochester. Misty is incredibly talented, generous, community-minded, and a gift to the creative community. I hope you'll come and celebrate with me, and get to know this wonderful creative. * * * * * * * * * * * * * ST. DAVID'S CHRISTIAN WRITING CONFERENCE June 21-25, 2023 Allegheny College, PA I'm delighted to be on faculty for this year's St David's conference! I'll be leading three workshops and doing a general session, all focused on the creative process - generating ideas, confronting roadblocks, collaborating with other creatives, and learning to tell ourselves a new story about ourselves. I'm joining a fantastic line up, including Annette Whipple, Roseanna White, Janeen Ippolito, Roberta Tucker Brosius. Registration closes May 24, 2023. For more information, visit the conference website. * * * * * * * * * * * * * COMING SOON This summer, I'm kicking off a series of creative events I'm calling "Creating In The Wild". These are walks and experiences that take us out into nature, in unusual venues, or around the community for times of journaling, reflection, and art to stir our creative spirit. I'm looking for places to host events, particularly places that can accommodate outside-the-box hours (for example, I'm really itching to do a late night/midnight writing session, outside). If you would like to talk about hosting an event, contact me at (585) 734-2209. We'll create something specific to your site. * * * * * * * * * * * * * Central Creatives is located at 349 West Commercial Street, in the Piano Works Mall, East Rochester, NY, 14445, right off 490. Park at the end of the plaza near Ferrari Pizza and enter through the RED single door between Weaving Arts Guild and Penn Fair Golf, right next to the antiques shop. Follow the hallway and take the elevator or stairs to the second floor. If you're there for an event, signs will direct you to the Gallery Entrance (near Roc Star Academy), which is the best way to get to my studio (#25). When you get there, text me at the number posted on the door and someone will let you in. Outside of event times, my studio is open by appointment only. * * * * * * * * * * * * * Full disclosure: links to books may be Amazon affiliate links. Comments are closed.
